Much as in English, the verb jam can be used to create a progressive tense.
I am thinking
I was thinking
With the regular -oj verbs, the -oj is replaced by -uar and duke is used between the verb jam and the regular -oj verb. For example:
Jam duke menduar = I am thinking
Ai është duke mësuar = He is studying.

isha duke menduarI was thinking

Another construction similar to English is using the verb kam in constructions such as:
I have thought
I have thought
With the regular -oj verbs, the -oj is again replaced by -uar, however duke is not required. For example:
Kam menduar = I have thought
Ai ka menduar = He has thought.

kam studjuarI have studied
ajo ka mesuarshe has learned
ne kemi kuptuarwe have understood
